Renfrew, Ontario

Located an hour west of Ottawa, Renfrew is a small town known for its participation in the early days of the National Hockey League. The humble lumber town was instrumental in forming the hockey franchises that eventually came to form the National Hockey League we all know and love today.

The town was previously home to four of the five hockey teams in 1909, which made up the National Hockey Association at that time. The Renfrew Wolves Junior A team continues to train and play hockey at the Ma-te-way Activity Centre, where the museum is located.

The town lies on the Bonnechere River in Renfrew County and is a quaint area with picturesque sights and several unique experiences, such as a visit to the NHA/NHL Birthplace Museum.
